GWH Holster, inside the pants.
ACP Holster, sharkskin trim.
By the mid '80s I was carrying a gun full time. I looked at leather and the guns little differently. If it didn't work as expected you either rebuild it or design your own. That thought process has lead me to the guns I build now and the leather I carry.
Over the past 20 years I have been involved with some of the very best leather makers. The real artists of their craft. Gordon Davis in the early '80 and IPSC and now with carry gear built by Lou Alessi. Arguably Lou Alessi and his products are the ultimate in carry leather.
In the near future I hope to offer the some of the same designs in more exotic leathers cut to Alessi standards and at price point reflecting the actual costs. I will also be adding one totally new belt holster design also produced by Alessi. That holster is still in prototype form with Lou and I working to get the design out to market ASAP.
The GWH holster is my design worked out over a 15 year period. Add to that Lou Alessi's input and hand boning production. Built for long bouts of holster wear with a full size 1911 and hard use. The belt is made specifically for this rig and its intended use, long term comfort and security. Belt is a heavy contour in 1.5" tapering to 1.25" and is made of a sewn two ply but NOT as heavy as the normal sewn gun belt. The pant supports part of the holster on a GWH rig, so for comfort a lighter weight belt is used. Belt can be had with a full cut at 1.25 also if preferred to fit dress pant loops.
The ACP holster is a NEW version of an older design of Alessi's from the mid 1980's that was originally offered to the California Department of Justice in both a vertical and a FBI cant. The ACP is an improved version of the original in an FBI cant. The late Brian Bilby of Advanced Combat Pistols, had Alessi resurrect the ACP holster and sold it exclusively from his shop. It is a very close match to the GWH in rake and gun presentation so it is easy to switch back and forth from one to the other with little concern as your needs arise. This rig is slightly higher cut and offers better retention than the vertical version offered by another custom gun maker and more importantly it is more secure and easier to conceal when cut at a FBI, 11 degree butt forward cant. This rig is mated to a full weight contoured and tapered gun belt.
For the most comfort while carrying a full size 1911, I suggest using the rigs as sold with the appropriate weight gun belt offered for each holster.
The mag pouch offered for either rig is a copy of an earlier "Davis Leather" pouch that offers total security and speed of presentation and a low profile.
Alessi gear is offered in a several combinations and choices:
